กาแฟกับความยั่งยืนของผืนป่า
การรณรงค์เรื่องการเพิ่มพื้นที่ป่าและลดการทำลายป่ากำลังเป็นเรื่องที่เข้มข้นขึ้นทุกวัน หลายคนพุ่งเป้าไปที่เกษตรกรบนพื้นที่สูง ซึ่งถูกมองว่าเป็นตัวการสําคัญของการทําลายป่า พวกเขาถูกกล่าวหาว่าเป็นคนแผ้วถางผืนป่าเปิดพื้นที่ทำไร่เลื่อนลอย ปลูกพืช โดยเฉพาะการทำไร่ข้าวโพด พืชกาแฟ ก็เช่นเดียวกันที่ต้องกลายเป็นผู้ร้ายในเรื่องของการใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างถล่มทลาย รวมถึงการเบียดบังพื้นที่ป่าด้วยการบุกรุกเข้าสู่เขตพื้นที่ป่า สิ่งเหล่านี้เกิดขึ้นเป็นเงาตามตัวมาจากกระแสการบริโภคกาแฟที่เพิ่มมากขึ้น วัฒนธรรมที่เปลี่ยนไป และความต้องการเข้าใจในศาสตร์ของกาแฟที่เพิ่มมาก ยิ่งขึ้นในปัจจุบัน ทำให้เกิดประเด็นคำถามต่าง ๆ เหล่านี้ตามมามากมาย
เมื่อข้อมูลที่ได้ไม่ครบรอบด้าน คำว่า “เด็ดดอกไม้สะเทือนถึงดวงดาว” จึงเป็นคำที่หลีกหนีไม่พ้น เพราะนั่นย่อมเป็นกฎตามธรรมชาติ การเข้าใจ ที่คลาดเคลื่อน ความรู้ที่ไม่ครบมุม ย่อมส่งผลสะเทือนต่อหลายกลุ่มคน เริ่มตั้งแต่เกษตรกรผู้ปลูกไปจนถึงผู้ดื่ม สิ่งกระทบต่างๆ เหล่านี้ อาจทำให้ ใครก็ตามที่ตั้งใจในการทำงานเพื่อพัฒนาสู่คุณภาพที่ดี ต้องสะดุดกับข้อมูล ที่ไหลออกมาโดยไม่ผ่านการคัดกรอง
