ขณะจิบกาแฟสักแก้วในคาเฟ่สุดโปรด คุณคิดถึงแค่สมดุลเปรี้ยวหวานขมของกาแฟดำสกัดโดยบาริสต้ามือฉมังด้วยวิธีสโลบาร์นั่นเท่านั้นหรือไม่หรือหากนำชอตเอสเพรสโซมาเติมนม น้ำตาล ผงโกโก้ แม้กระทั่งไอศกรีมโฮมเมดสักก้อนลงไป เมื่อผ่านเข้าสู่ปากอันเต็มไปด้วยต่อมรับรส คุณก็อดอมยิ้มอิ่มเอมใจไม่ได้กับความอร่อย นั่นเพราะมันคุ้มค่ากับเงินที่ต้องจ่ายไปแค่นั้นหรือไม่คือการเสพกาแฟอันสุนทรีย์ เครื่องดื่มอันมีคาเฟอีนเป็นส่วนประกอบที่มีเบื้องหลังมากกว่านั้น คนส่วนใหญ่อาจมองข้ามไปเพราะกว่าจะได้มาซึ่งสิ่งซึ่งอยู่ต่อหน้ามี “ตัวละครหลัก” ผู้มักถูกหลงลืมไปในห่วงโซ่อาณาจักรกาแฟ หนีไม่พ้นชาวสวนกาแฟทั้งหลาย ร้ายยิ่งกว่าคนจำนวนมากมองข้ามไปว่ากาแฟส่งผลมากมายแค่ไหนต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมไม่เพียงแค่เกษตรกรผู้ปลูกสมควรตระหนักถึงผลกระทบนี้ ผู้บริโภคก็จำเป็นต้องรับทราบข้อมูลเพื่อจะได้คิดไตร่ตรอง อันจะนำไปสู่การมีส่วนร่วมในการสร้างความเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงบวกเช่นกัน
หนึ่งในตัวอย่างที่ชัดเจนมาก มาจากการได้เดินทางไปคุ้ยค้น ทำความรู้จักกับแหล่งปลูกกาแฟในแผ่นดินไกลปืนเที่ยง อาจเรียกว่า “โลกลืม” ในซีกหลืบหนึ่งของเปรู (Peru) ประเทศหนี่งในทวีปอเมริกาใต้เทือกเขาแอนดีส (Los Andes) ซุกซ่อนความลับไว้หลายอย่าง ร่องรอยทางประวัติศาสตร์อันน่าทึ่งปรากฏอยู่ตามหุบเขาต่างๆ อารยธรรมกำเนิดรุ่งเรือง และในที่สุดก็ล่มสลายไปครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า ชั้นดิน กองหิน งานปั้นงานสลัก ข้าวของเครื่องใช้ กองกระดูก และอื่น ๆ มากมาย ล้วนเป็นหลักฐานชวนพิศวง บ่งชี้ความเปลี่ยนแปลงในต่างช่วงสมัยของพื้นที่คนในยุคนี้พยายามปะติดปะต่อชิ้นส่วนข้อมูลด้วยการสังเกต วิเคราะห์แล้วลงความเห็นว่ายังคงมีสิ่งซึ่งไม่อาจทำความเข้าใจได้ชนิดฟันธง จึงได้แค่สันนิษฐานกันไปต่าง ๆ นานา

When taking times in your favorite chic coffee shop what else about that cup crossing into your mind? Is it the balance between the sweet and bitterness of the black coffee brewed by the talented barista? Or, you would start to smile when take a sip of the espresso shot mixed with milk, brown sugar, chocolate powder, or even a scoop of delicious ice-cream because it’s worth the amount of money you pay for it. Is that all what you think about as the joy of drinking coffee? A lot of people do not realize or know about the stories behind those cups. It takes a lot of efforts, energy and resources in the producing level before it travels a long distant all the way to the coffee shops to serve to the customers. The main people who are (a lot of times) forgotten are ‘the coffee farmers’. Moreover, not many people are aware of the environment and ecosystem
issues relate with coffee industry. Not just coffee producers that should be aware of these issues and grow coffee in the way that protects rather than destroying the nature, but consumers also should understand more so that they can be a part that creates the positive changes as well.
One of the very good examples to learn about the social and environmental impact relates with coffee industry is the visiting to the coffee origin located in the very remote area in Peru, South America. Los Andes has been hiding so many secret throughout the times The amazing historical evidences shown in many valleys. One empire rose and eventually vanished and another one rose again. History merely repeats itself over and over again. Things found in the soil layers, rocks crumbled show interesting evidences, sculptures and other ancient crafts, things and tools people made to use in their daily lives, pieces of bones in the caves or graveyards, etc, these all prove the rise and fall of these places. Archeologists and scientists try to put together these evidences, analyze them and come up with conclusions, in order to understand the past. But, there are still so many things left unexplainable.
