ไม่มีคำว่าบังเอิญอยู่หลังถ้วยรางวัล
“ผมไม่เคยคิดว่ามันจะมีกาแฟที่สมบูรณ์แบบที่สุด อาจจะมีบางครั้งที่รู้สึกว่านี่เป็นเอสเพรสโซที่อร่อยที่สุดเท่าที่เคยดื่มมา แต่หลังจากไม่กี่วัน ไม่กี่อาทิตย์คุณก็จะอยากดื่มกาแฟที่อร่อยกว่าเดิม และคุณก็จะคอยตามหาความสมบูรณ์แบบนั้นไม่จบสิ้น คุณจะตื่นมาตอนเช้าแล้วพูดว่า ผมรักในสิ่งที่ผมทำผมไม่ใช่คนสมบูรณ์แบบ แต่ไม่มีวันเป็น แต่ผมอยากทำให้มันดีขึ้น”
ทั้งหมดนี้คือคำพูดของซาซ่า เซสติก (Sasa Sestic) บาริสต้าชาวออสเตรเลียเจ้าของรางวัลชนะเลิศจากเวที World Barista Championship 2015 ณ เมืองซีแอตเทิล รัฐวอชิงตัน สหรัฐอเมริกา จากภาพยนตร์สารคดีเรื่อง Sasa Sestic is a coffee man เข้าฉายในไทยเมื่อปี 2016 ที่ผ่านมา
เราหยิบยกข้อความข้างต้นนี้มาเพราะเห็นว่า นี่คือใจความรวบยอดของภาพยนตร์ทั้งเรื่อง และของเส้นทางสู่การเป็น Champion ของซาซ่าด้วยเช่นกัน หากใครที่มีโอกาสได้ชมภาพยนตร์สารคดีเรื่องนี้คงจะเห็นพ้องต้องกันกับเราว่า ซาซ่าเป็นอีกคนหนึ่งที่มีวิธีการคิดอย่างคนที่เกิดมาเป็นแชมป์ เขาลงพื้นที่ขลุกอยู่กับเกษตรกรนานนับปี เพื่อให้เข้าใจเมล็ดกาแฟให้ได้มากที่สุด กระทั่งเมื่อถึงรอบการแข่งขันในเวทีระดับโลก ซาซ่าฝึกซ้อมอย่างบ้าคลั่ง เขาทำกระทั่งการหอบนมที่ดีที่สุดจากออสเตรเลีย ข้ามน้ำข้ามทะเลไปอเมริกา ด้วยกระเป๋าสัมภาระกว่า 24 ใบ น้ำหนักรวมกว่า 280 กิโลกรัม เพื่อเสิร์ฟกาแฟแก้วที่ดีที่สุดในการแข่งขัน - และแน่นอน, เขาชนะซาซ่าเปลี่ยนมุมมองของเราที่มีต่อการแข่งขัน ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ทำให้เราเข้าใจว่า เบื้องหลังถ้วยรางวัลนั้นเต็มไปด้วยการฝึกซ้อม กลยุทธ์ และอีกหลายปัจจัยที่กอปรรวมกันขึ้นมากลายเป็นคำว่าผู้ชนะ และเป็นหลักฐานยืนยันชัดเจนว่า ไม่มีใครบังเอิญเป็นแชมป์
There are no coincidences behind the trophies.

Never Ever!” Sometime you might feel like “This is the best espresso I’ve ever tasted!” But later on, after few days or few weeks, you will need a more delicious one and keep chasing that never ending perfection. You will wake up in the morning and said “I love what I do, I’m not perfect man and never will be, but I’m gonna make it better.”
This is the quote from the documentary movie called ‘Sasa Sestic is a coffee man’ (2016). The movie is about Sasa Sestic, a barista from Australia who was the winner of World Barista Championship 2015. The competition was held at Seattle, Washington, United States, and the movie was brought to Thailand for a short period in 2016.
We picked up the above sentences as it obviously show the main idea of the movie and the main path of Sasa’s journey to be a champion. If you’ve chance to watch the movie, you will agree with us for sure that Sasa truly has the ‘winner mind’. He spent a plenty of time with the local coffee farmer in order to understand coffee beans as much as he could. And when the competition was around the corner, his practicing was getting crazier and crazier. He even packed the best milk aboard from Australia to America with the 24 luggages, 280 kilogram to serve the best coffee for the competition. No doubt, he won it.
